You may think that living a healthier life is just some fad thing, or that it really makes no difference how you live because you are going to die sometime anyway. However, if you want your years to be filled with fun and laughter, and you want to extend your life, then living healthier is the way to go. You can increase your health, your energy, and even

There is a lot that goes into healthy living, it isn’t just about eating right (although that is an important part of it). Here are some things you should be doing if you want to live a healthier and longer life.

Fight Addiction

Addiction, no matter what it is you are addicted to, can be very harmful in your life. Shopping and gambling addictions can lead to the poor house, and drug and alcohol addictions can lead to organ damage and more. Fighting addiction isn’t easy, but it can greatly extend your life.

Within a year of quitting smoking your health is almost back to what it was before you even became a smoker. Even prescription drug addictions can lead to health problems since most prescription medications have side effects and long term effects, especially on the liver.

Be Physical

Physical activity is important in many ways. It helps keep your muscles toned, it can help you lose weight. When it comes to things like flexibility it’s literally a matter of using it or losing it. Even if you don’t have a lot of energy for a workout you can still get some added physical activity into each and every day.

Try yoga for flexibility. Walking can be a great form of exercise, even if you don’t have the energy for things like running or intense workouts.

Get Emotional

Holding in your emotions can actually lead to more stress. Find creative ways to express your emotions, since rage and other explosive emotions can cause more problems (from raising your blood pressure to cause disharmony with family). Meditate, do yoga, take long walks in nature, or buy a punching bag.

Eat Right

You also need to be sure that you are eating right, which means getting the vitamins and nutrients your body needs for optimal health. Eating healthy means picking better snack options, like fruits and vegetables instead of chips and junk food. It also means cooking more food from home, from scratch, rather than eat oversized restaurant portions or empty calorie fast foods.

When you head to the grocery store for food you should shop the perimeter of the store in order to get the freshest and healthiest options. You need to pass on things with too much salt and sugar, and make more from scratch, buying fewer items that are over processed.
